Take the first step in booking your Scalpel-Free Vasectomy!

Fill out the encrypted* intake form shown below to start the process!

Here’s what’s going to happen after you complete the form:  Our Patient Care Navigator, Meagan will reach out to you via email to explain next steps. She will create a chart for you and book you in for a phone call with one of our physicians based on your response to the questions above.

Over the next 2-3 business days, you will be receiving a link to our clinic’s portal: AVAconnect.ca. This will enable you to book appointments, view test results, download documents, and message Dr. Filion.

*To protect your personal information, we use a third party HIPPA compliant form called Ocean.

Here are some frequently asked questions regarding the booking process

We usually recommend taking a minimum of two days off after your vasectomy. If you have a demanding job, you may need to take 4-5 days off. Returning to work or activity too quickly after your procedure may increases your risk of bleeding, pain and swelling.

We strive to ensure patients can have their vasectomy done within 4-6 weeks depending on fluctuating demand and physician availability. If wait times for the initial screening phone call with Dr. Hackett, Dr. Ma or Dr. Sherman are too long, you may try RocketDoctor.ca and request a referral to Dr. Filion.

Yes if that is your preference. However, we have found that having a conversation over the phone prior to your procedure allows you to be better prepared and makes the process feel less rushed and impulsive.

All follow-ups are typically done over the phone. Because sutures are not require with this method, there is no need to have you come back to the clinic. Dr. Filion usually follows-up at around the 2 week mark to make sure you are doing well, and after your semen analysis results have been received. We give all our patients his cell phone number and he is available 24/7 if you have any questions or concerns following your vasectomy.

No. There is no such thing as a laser vasectomy. The No-Scalpel method that Dr. Filion uses is a minimally invasive approach that limits pain, decrease complications and shorten downtime. People often associate the “no-scalpel” technique with lasers, however lasers were never involved in any kind of vasectomy.

The vasectomy itself is covered by Alberta Health. The clinic charge $200+tax for the portion that is not covered by Alberta Health. This is not a precondition to access this service and you may be able to submit this to your benefits plan. If you do not have valid health care, the fee is 950+ tax.

We charge $950+tax for repeat vasectomies as Alberta Health will not cover a second vasectomy after a reversal.
